Bird by Bird

I bought this book awhile ago, and just "found" it again. I buy a lot of books and don't read them just because I put them "somewhere" and then forget about it. I also spend a lot of time on the computer and unfortunately, I cannot read and play games/read blogs/news/etc. at the same time. I know.......it's a malfunction.

Anyhow, this book was great. I've not read all of it yet, but just the intro and the first chapter taught me wonderful things such as the fact that I am not the only insane writer in the universe. She's almost as nuts as I am. Or, I'm almost as nuts as she is. Whichever works. But, it's a good nuts. Really.

The first thing that truly inspired me was the concept of writing about what you can see through a 1" picture frame. That really made things clear - I get overwhelmed when I think in terms of "a whole novel", or, "a whole how-to guide". Keeping it contained in a 1" frame is EXACTLY what I need to do and I'm grateful to Anne Lamott for writing this down in this book. And, I'm thankful that Borders had this book, and I'm grateful for Kevin for mentioning it was a good book.
